GAMEO GUIDE

FHD vs QHD vs 4K — which resolution is right for you?

Resolution is how many pixels paint the picture. More pixels mean sharper detail — and more work for your graphics card. Here is the honest trade-off, mapped to the GAMEO range.

THE SHORT ANSWER

FHD (1080p) is the competitive standard — easiest to drive, so frame rates soar. QHD (1440p) is the sharpness sweet spot at 1.78× the detail. 4K UHD (2160p) is four times FHD's pixels — print-sharp at 27 inches, ideal for work and cinematic gaming, but it demands the strongest graphics card. GAMEO covers all three: FHD at 180Hz and 200Hz, QHD at 165Hz, and 4K UHD at 165Hz.

THE THREE TIERS

What each resolution actually delivers

FHD

1920 × 1080 · 2.1M pixels

Full HD — the competitive standard. Easiest on your graphics card, so frame rates soar. Sharpest at 24 inches (about 92 PPI); at 27 inches the pixels stretch a little further.

BEST FOR: ESPORTS AND MAXIMUM FRAME RATE

QHD

2560 × 1440 · 3.7M pixels

Quad HD — the sweet spot. 1.78 times the pixels of FHD: noticeably sharper text and detail without the heavy GPU cost of 4K. At 24 inches it reaches about 122 PPI — very tight.

BEST FOR: SHARPNESS + SPEED BALANCE

4K UHD

3840 × 2160 · 8.3M pixels

Four times the pixels of FHD. At 27 inches that is about 163 PPI — print-like text, huge desktop workspace, and stunning detail in cinematic games and creative work. The most demanding to drive.

BEST FOR: MAXIMUM DETAIL, WORK + CINEMATIC GAMING

COMMON QUESTIONS

FHD, QHD and 4K — FAQ

Is QHD better than FHD for gaming?

For sharpness, yes — QHD packs 1.78 times the pixels of FHD, so text and fine detail are visibly crisper at the same screen size. The trade-off is frame rate: those extra pixels are harder for your graphics card to drive. Competitive players chasing maximum frames usually prefer FHD; players who want a sharper, more cinematic picture prefer QHD.

Is 4K worth it on a 27-inch monitor?

At 27 inches, 4K reaches about 163 pixels per inch — text renders like print and fine detail in games and creative work is dramatically cleaner than FHD at the same size. It is the sharpest option in the GAMEO range, and 165Hz means it still games fluidly. It needs a capable graphics card to shine in demanding titles.

Can my PC run 4K at 165Hz?

In esports titles, modern mid-to-high-end graphics cards can approach it. In demanding AAA games, expect to use upscaling or lower settings to keep frame rates high. If your priority is maximum competitive frame rate on modest hardware, FHD at 180Hz or 200Hz is the easier drive.

What does PPI mean?

Pixels per inch — how tightly pixels are packed on screen. Higher PPI means sharper text and finer detail at the same viewing distance. A 24-inch FHD screen is about 92 PPI, 24-inch QHD about 122 PPI, and 27-inch 4K about 163 PPI.
